Assassin Promotions featherweight Ben Jones will top the bill on April 8th in York Hall on a card put together by Mark Prior’s Warrior Boxing Promotions and Mickey Helliet, under the banner of Hellraiser promotions.
The Crawley based fighter, who has shared the ring with current IBF featherweight champion Lee Selby and two-time world title challenger Stephen Smith will fight for the Commonwealth featherweight title, taking on southpaw Jason Cunningham.
Jones is hoping to get his chance to challenge for major honours this year, in a featherweight division of superb fighters which includes Carl Frampton and Leo Santa Cruz. The division was once dominated by the notorious Prince Naseem Hamed.
The show, which will take place in one of Britain’s most infamous boxing venues in Bethnal Green will also feature other Assassin fighters Alfie Best at Super Featherweight and Middleweight Max Wicks, both coming off good wins at the Assassin Promotions show at the Grand Connaught Rooms earlier this month.
Kaz Evans, founder of Assassin Promotions said: “This is a good opportunity for Ben Jones to show his worth against a top quality opponent in Jason Cunningham and collect the Commonwealth title for good measure. I’ve witnessed him training first hand in recent weeks and he’s really taken things up a notch.”
Ben Jones, featherweight said: “This will be a solid test for me but I’m confident I can come through it and snap up the Commonwealth title. The atmosphere at York Hall should be electric and let’s hope it’s another special night in my career and one I can share with my fans and supporters.”
